This years International Day for the Elderly was marked by Caring Hands International. The Elderly people were appreciated for their contributions to the building of our nation in their diverse ways and encouraged as senior citizens and custodian of our culture to see that they maintain the link between the old and the young especially in good habits and attitudes. They were encouraged to continue to do the needful for a healthy life in old age by eating right, exercises, adequate rest and sleep, and to go for medical check up and not wait until they fall sick. They were also encouraged to ensure that all the COVID-19 protocols are kept because the pandemic is still ongoing.
Health check up was carried out to assess and discover earl onset of old age health problems;
1. Blood pressure check was done to detect early onset of hypertension.
2.The urine was tested both for protein and glucose to detect any raise in blood sugar which might be indicative of diabetes and protein to assess the condition of the kidneys.
3. The weight was also taken to detect mass weight loss or overweight which can happen as results of underlying health condition not yet known to the person.
