Opening Address by the Executive Director of Caring Hands International End-of-Year Older Persons’ Hangout – 16 December 2025

Distinguished elders, our valued partners, dedicated volunteers, friends, and members of the Caring Hands International family, it is with a heart filled with gratitude and deep respect that I welcome you to our 2025 End-of-Year Older Persons’ Hangout.
Today is a special day, a day set aside to celebrate you—your wisdom, your resilience, your life stories, and your invaluable contribution to our families, our communities, and our nation.

Our Organization
At Caring Hands International, our mission has always been clear: to improve the quality of life and dignity of all persons, children, teenagers, youth, adults and especially our older citizens. While empowering every generation through support, care, and opportunity. We believe that every stage of life holds beauty, purpose, and potential, and it is our responsibility—as a society and as an organization—to make sure no one is left behind, overlooked, or forgotten.
This gathering is a testament to that our belief. Today Is About Connection, Joy, and Belonging

At Caring Hands International, our end-of-year hangout is more than an event—it is a warm space for social interaction, peer sharing, networking, laughter, storytelling, games, and the simple joy of being together.
Many older persons face isolation, limited social contact, and barriers to active living. But today, and always, we say:
You our older citizens deserve companionship. You deserve community. You deserve joy.
We have created this annual tradition to bring you together—to remind you that you are seen, valued, and surrounded by people who care deeply for your wellbeing.

Our Commitment to the Welfare of Older Persons
Throughout the year, Caring Hands International has continued to strengthen our older-person-focused programs. These include:
* Health and wellness outreach through club meetings w
* Social engagement and support groups
* Home visits and community care
* Advocacy for dignity, respect, and inclusion
We remain committed to ensuring that your voices are heard and your needs remain central to national and community development conversations.

Supporting the Whole Community, Empowering the Next Generation
While today celebrates our older persons I must also highlight our growing youth programs, which reflect our commitment to supporting all age groups.
Through our programs on drug and substance abuse prevention, advocacy against teenage pregnancy in Secondary Schools, and vocational and skill acquisition amongst out of school youths. Among our adult group we have been advocating against Female General Mutilation (FGM) Awareness creation and sensitization on Democracy and Good governance. We are building bridges between generations and nurturing the future.
We believe that when we support the young and honour the old, we create balanced, healthy, and thriving communities.

A Celebration of Life and Legacy
As we gather today, let us cherish the beautiful connections that form across the tables—stories shared, new friendships
formed, and laughter that lifts the spirit.
May this hangout remind each of us that aging is not a decline, but a continued journey of purpose. Every year lived is a triumph; every wrinkle tells a story; every grey hair is a crown of honour.

Appreciation
I express my deepest appreciation to our partners, sponsors, volunteers, caregivers, and the entire Caring Hands team whose hard work has made today possible. You embody the true spirit of compassion.
And to our esteemed older persons—thank you for the paths you paved, the wisdom you impart, and the legacy you continue to build. Today we celebrate you, and every day we stand by you.
Ladies and gentlemen, let us enjoy this day with open hearts.
Let us dance, laugh, connect, and celebrate life—because you deserve nothing less.
Welcome to the 2025 End-of-Year Older Persons’ Hangout!
I wish you a Merry Christmas and a Happy and prosperous new year ahead.
Thank you, and God bless you all.
Fehintola Obilomo
